First I removed the ashtray housing. I then removed the ashtray and measured the hole that I was going to fill with the switch panel. After that I found a suitable material to make the mounting panel. In my case it was an old plastic computer monitor backing.

Once I had it cut I drilled 4 holes and sanded the edges and rounded the corners

After I was satisfied, I sanded everything so that paint would stick and I gave it 3 coats of matte black spray. I then Pre-wired 4 green LED rocker switches and ran the wires through pre existing holes in the ashtray housing.

Super cool. Seen a few switches/panels before, but none like that in the ashtray. Was going to do it this weekend but didn't have time. I like those switches, where'd you pick them up at?

Thanks!!! You can get some at radioshack, but they are red or don't have an led. I picked mine up on ebay because I'm picky and wanted all green. The only green switches like this in the US are made by KC lights and are $15 each. Here is a link:

Yeah, those are nice. Saw some nice ones at RadioShack or Tractor Supply, but no LED indicators or anything other than red light.

KC Daylighters, bypass on my stereo, Train Horn(coming soon), and nothing on the last one but I'm sure I'll find something.

How did you get the panel to stay in the ash tray slot or is it just sitting in there loose?
