That's your compass. To calibrate it just hold down your TRIP needle for 10 seconds till it says "CALC" then just drive around for a while until it figures out where it is.

That's only if his truck cam with a compass, located behind the rear view mirror. The "--" next to the large 'F" is the temperature reading. If your truck had the temperature feature originally, then this could work too. The temp sensor is located on the vertical bar just below the hood latch.

If you did not have these features originally (I suspect this because you did a cluster swap to gain a tach), then don't bother buying the parts/sensors to make them work, as wiring for these plus a cluster re-flash is required.

There are two cluster flashes: one for mileage match, and one for features, such as compass, temp display, etc).

Just enjoy the tach, and ignore the other non working features.

If you had a XL or STX, you most likely lost the display giving you "door ajar" and your interior lights and cargo light no longer work when the doors are opened. Correct?

If you wanted this, the best cluster to buy is that from a XL or STX that had a manual transmission. They had a tach, plus the information center operated the same as the XL/STX displays.

Little off topic but where'd you get the cluster with a tach? I just have the speedometer an hate it. Some detail would help me out a lot.

They are kind of hit or miss.. Try some local junk/salvage yards. Usually if they have them (meaning the model you want) they will sell it to you. You could try online, but expect to pay a fair amount more. Just dont buy a Lariat or KR cluster if you do not already have a lariat or KR as there are several problems in doing so.
