Question Clicking sounds in the engine

I dont know what it is, but, every now and then I'll hear clicking sounds in my engine. I've been told various things from loose idle pulley to exhaust leak. I just want to know what it is! Sometimes when I drive my truck, I wont even hear it at all....hmmmmm....

possibly the cam phazer. I had a click at low rpms. I swapped out the 5w-20 oil with 5w-30 and it quieted down quite a bit.

Its a value added feature, no additional charge

I have an 05 5.4 purchased new.
I also have the ticking/clicking.
Sometimes its there, sometimes not.

Unless it is really loud I wouldn't worry.

You can find many forum threads on this subject.

LOL, well, my truck is pretty loud so I'll never get it to quiet, but, it was getting annoying everytime I'll drive through the base main gate, and have my fellow Security guys tell me "Hey, theres a clicking sound in your engine"....lol. I've used 5W-30 oil before and it never really went away.

Wow, "sounds" more serious than the usual ticking.

I'm no mechanic so I couldn't tell u. I found some link on here saying its very common with the 04-08 models and that a different type of oil can get rid of it since the 5w-20 is really thin or something. I haven't noticed any mechanical problems, the sound is just annoying, I'd rather hear the growls and rumbles from my truck than the clicks...lol
