one little, two little, three little ticks ticks
four little, five little, six little ticks ticks
seven little, eight little, nine little ticks ticks
ten million ticks ticks more!

These engines tick......could be injectors, could be the little green gremlin Ford sends to live in your valve train........in either case, don't sweat it. Unless it idles like a powerstroke diesel, or rattles like a can full of rocks, don't sweat it. And don't add sh to the oil to make it quiet, fixing a problem that isn't there only creates real problems!

I lucked out and had it done under warranty, 5yr 60k one... Still ran me about $100 for stuff like hardware that wasn't covered. I think I heard guys pay around $400 out of pocket, don't quote me tho...

Get a stethescope with the needle end and put on your injector, pick one any one and that eill at least tell you if it's those. I think I have posted that 5 times this week due to after changing my timing compmonents I still thought wow this thing is loud still but it was injectors.

There's a quick test to see if its the manifold leak...

With the truck running and warmed up put it in drive. Hold a foot on the brake and a foot on the gas. Slowly give it gas like you were going to do a brake-torque burnout and listen for the tick. It should increase in speed as the rpms increase.

If you put it in neutral or park and simply rev it up it won't be noticeable. It needs to be under a load(driving). It should also be very noticeable at a cold startup then go away after around 20 seconds once the metal heats up and expands to close the gap( sort of )
