05's were subject to bad series of throttle bodies. mine failed at 60k . Intermittent shutdown at very inconvenient times . Sometimes weeks apart . The only fix was a new throttle body upgraded number .I can't remember the new series number . They are several hundred bucks back then but it will drive you nuts working on it . I suspect it was the motor or module by motor that failed to move to the proper position . This tries to stop a runaway throttle condition if it doesn't feed back to pcm properly . I would only use an oem replacement . I bought mine from oem select on ebay .
Well, it may well be the throttle body, but I would definitely determine what the problem is before putting on any new parts. I'd start by testing the gas pedal position sensor (Electronic Throttle Control Module, ETC) at the PCM with a voltmeter.
One other thought. If your OBD tool can show live data, you could monitor the TPS and ETC while backing up. There may also be a PID for monitoring the throttle body itself.

Agree that it points to throttle body issues, but why only in reverse? I would inspect the harness that plugs into the the throttle body for chafing or something that grounds out when the engine and harness flexes in reverse.
