Center console project.
Thanks Longarms! no, not ignoring you but between work and taking a day off to work on this... I will take some photos today. The truck is clean and the inside looks beautiful. Yesterday I was not too convinced with the side pannels so I took them off and I am going to correct the angle. Also the friend that helped me wants to custom some side panels and see how it would look. Make up touches. My next project is to set up the back up sensors and the rear camera. I am looking into the cameras but I think I have found a screen stereo system that would accept the cam reception so i could see the image on the screen. Also this system adds the GPS and satellite radio, but the bueaty of the camera is that it is front and back. Front will have night vision (not that i will use it but, it is a gadget. The back up camera will be integrated on the frame so for this I have contacted a body shop. I hope to have all on paper by the end of this month and start the project the first week of next month. The only turn down about this one is the cost. I am trying to keep everything under $1,000.00 the stereo system I got it at $500 from a friend (good thing is that fits perfect the F150), the camera and the sensors I am still negotiating but so far no much luck. So we will see!!!
Way cool man, post some pictures of how you covered the hole where the old shifter is... This is giving me a lot of thought and I applaud you for that... I'm however not real good with wiring and transmission and stuff like that, I can barely wire in a radio! How much do you think it would be to have a shop install something like this?
I just noticed, on page 3 picture 3, when viewing the console from the passenger side there seems to be a gap from were the console would meet the dash of the truck... Any Idea's on how to make that look more OEM?
@ Rosie, you will need no need of a body shop. I am in the same shoes as you are. I like to say that pretty much everything is "plug and play". On the transmission you will only have to change a bracket (two screws that's it) and connect the cable (way easy). In the electrical connection you will need a harness and the connection is way easy. So do not panic. Honestly my only scary moment was "let's drill a whole", and the couple of times I thought "what if...". But this is the beauty of the game, you first study the project, put it on paper and then, jump on it!. If you want to take it to a garage, they will charge you labor. So the entire project was 5 hours for everything so if they are taking more than 5 hours, they are over billing you. And if they are good professionals then they should do it in a lot less time.
@Rosie that is the part where the side panels go. The fit good but if you get close you can tell that they are a bit off. This is why I took them off to modify them. But I am also waiting for this friend of mine to bring his "creation" (LOL) and see how it looks. There is no space at all between the dash and the console. The 2009 FX4 (the console was from that model) fits perfect. As soon as I get the side panels corrected or the ones my friend is doing I will post the photos too.
