Well, is having a CB cost effective? No, I guess not really but I just consider it a hobby more than anything. So cost doesn't matter, lol.
As far as tuning, it's not hard. You really should have a SWR meter to get a good reading as the meter built into the radios is not so great. And how to tune it depends on the antenna. Mine, for instance, has a tip that you move up or down depending on your reading.

i love my cb and it wasn't to hard for me to wire it, tho your location for mounting is probe a lot nicer than mine, i use mine when travailing with my father or a few of my friends better than a $200 ticket for talking on the phone

not reall a pic of the cb but you can see it in the bottom right hand corner

but looks great good job

Looks good! I'm wanting to get me a cb too. I was gong to mount mine in the same location because it looks like it was made for it.

I have a cb hooked up on my truck and just like u i mounted the antenna in the same spot. Dont have any upclose pics but here one of the truck with the antenna. Soon ill have dual antennas

mine is mounted under the cig lighter in that useless opening and i can still use both my cup holders as well as the 4x4 floor shifter. i have the cobra ultra 19, i think thats what its called.
