Default CB help please.

Brand new cobra cb put it in yesterday. I have dual antenas. Yesterday I could talk to people up to about a mile a way. Today I can't talk to people over 50 yards. Any ideas why I can't talk farther than that? All the connections are good.

I would get an swr meter from radio shack and make sure it's dialed in. Very simple to do and the tester isn't too expensive.

* and by it I mean the antenna, you are tuning the antenna to the radio not the radio to the antenna

Ok thanks I'm gonna work on it tommorrow. And I mounted it in the little square box on top the dash above the radio. Took it out drilled two holes for th bracket and 1 hole for the wires. It looks like it was made to go there.

And I ran the wires through the back doors and under the door strip and up through the dash. You can't see the wires at all.

only run one ant. the dual setup looks cool, but you will get better performance. i used to run it all, started with a whip, it sucked. then dual setup lke you, was a little better. then ran a fiberglass single, was the best performance.
