Default cat issues

My 05 f150 had dual exhaust when I bought it and most likely the cats guts were knocked out of them. The truck feels like it's holding back a ton of power and back fires if you really get on the gas. I was told there were some kind of o2 replacement that would actually trick the computer into thinking everything is ok but I have no idea what it is or if it would even be a fix. Anybody else have this problem and know what I'm talking about? I'm curious to some mil eliminating kit or something I've heard about.

Got nothing about the problem...only learned that selling vehicles with gutted cats was illegal...and thanks for sending me the link to my non-informative previous thread

1) If it's backfiring there are serious issues.

2) If you use a MIL eliminator is will just mask the problem, not fix it.

3) If you just bought the vehicle, the dealer needs to make it right.

4) Without CEL/OBDII diagnostic codes, there isn't much anyone can do to help you, as they are the key to diagnosing modern vehicles.

Well I did just buy it back in November so the hassle of trying to "prove" it was that way when I bought it, at least here in Georgia where the law is crooked, isn't worth it...so I just need to correct the problem and be done with it

i would assume if the cats were hollowed and you dont have mil eliminators you would throw a code because the rear o2s would recognize the cats werent working. is your cel on? if not, your cats are fine. and if its back firing, deleting the cats shouldnt do this because as far as i know, the rear o2s arent used for tuning, they are just there to monitor the cats

some one correct me if im wrong

Maybe its a timing issue. Or just something is gummed up. Start taking apart your intake tubes and throttle body. Cjeck plugs too.

Had a ford mechanic hook the computer to it and the front and rear read the same...apparently one is suppose to read lean and the other fluctuates or something like that...I'm not exactly educated in this department but he said they're reading equal when they aren't suppose to be. He thinks the cats were gutted.
