Default Cam Phaser quote!

I was curious to see how much to get my cam phasers done since they tend to go bad. Since the dealership is about a mile away from my house I stopped in and they told me it would be about $1200 for parts and labor to get everything replaced for the phaser job. He said it should be about the same for the manifold leak. Sound about right?

Sounds good. I remember reading some members getting quotes around $2-3k

Are you getting both the phasers and manifold leak taken care of at the same time? Are you hearing the diesel sound at idle, ticking while accelerating, or both?

It sounds like it at idle and I can hear it speed up a little while accelerating for a second until my exhaust gets loud

What will happen if I don't get that fixed in time? How much did it cost you?

I am willing to say it is more a timing set issue, I no there are countless posts on this. If you read, several have had the noise come back when only phasers were done. I am not saying the phaseres arent making any noise but i would try and make sure it's them or go ahead and replace it all. You have the valve covers off which is the biggest part of the labor, and only about another $200.00 for parts.
