Question A/C Question

I've searched the many, many, A/C threads and haven't found what I'm looking for. I believe my coolant level is low. I have a set of gauges, but haven't found what the average readings should be on this truck (2007 w/ 5.4). Anybody know off hand what the high/low sides should be reading?

I think 25psi on the low side and 45psi on the high.
Edit: your low/high will depend on ambient temperature. I'm getting 27psi low side at about 60F ambient temperature.

A fair rule of thumb is that, for a properly operating system in a non-severe environment, is that the low side is going to be around 30 psi (25-40 typical) and that the high side is going to be around 2X to 3X the ambient temperature in °F. Ambient conditions, including the load on the system, have a lot to do with the actual pressures in the system. Some of Ford's factory service manuals have charts that show the expected readings under various conditions. Service manual procedure is attached for the OP's vehicle.

I hooked up the gauges and it seems to be reading right in line with normal, yet still blows warm/outside temp. The blend door works, as it goes to hot and back with no issue... is the a/c relay under the hood or the dash?

If your compressor clutch is engaging (must be, to give you normal readings), the relay is working. What were your low and high side pressures? Does the low pressure line/accumulator (aluminum canister) feel cold to the touch?

Mine was just on the boarder on the low side and didn't get any cooling, maybe these compressors are as finicky as the alternators.

It's engaging, but it clicks on and off repeatedly.

Unsure if this is slightly off topic, but what should I pay for complete AC service (ballpark number). I have a freon leak somewhere and feel like I just want to replace everything to get it working properly. Looking for a mom/pop pricing and not stealership.

I rechecked everything this weekend to see what I was missing. It's clicking on 3 seconds, off 6 seconds, repeat. Any thoughts? The refrigerant level is good.
