Default Buying Advice

I'm currently looking to purchase a 04-08 F-150. I was wondering if anyone had any tips as to what too look for. I'm currently looking at the following truck but I'm a little concerned about the high mileage. I need the vehicle for just 4 months and plan on reselling as I'll be moving out of country after that.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Considering it is only for 4 months, have you considered renting a car? How fast can you sell this F-150 you think?

Is there a specific reason why you need to get the truck? Are you hauling or moving your stuff? For that little amount of time I think it would be better to get something more affordable under $3,000 if it's just for 4 months.

If you buy it now, ill buy it off you in 3 months for 25% of what you paid As other have said maybe renting a car is a better option, or borrow a family members car.

Thanks for the input guys. I had a look at renting and costs are around the $2500 mark (4 months). I thought it'd be cheaper to just purchase a used vehicle and then sell it to a dealer once done. The reason I looked into an F-150 is because I will be moving stuff into storage. Unfortunately borrowing a car is not an option.

That price is crazy for that truck. You would lose a lot more than $2500, the fee to rent a truck for 4 months, if you sold the truck back to a dealer. As an example I have the exact truck, more or less, and I paid $8700 for it from a dealer in 2009 with 106k miles.

What would be a more appropriate price? I checked KBB and they price it anywhere between $5-6k with that amount of mileage if I'm not mistaken.

I had a better look at the renting option as that's what most people have suggested, I'm under the age of 25 so the actual price of a rental for 4 months skyrockets to nearly $5k due to age surcharges.

I would check craigslist for a 1000 dollar beater, a ranger, s10, something small, if it is just hauling stuff to storage, then to get rid of it sell it to a scrap yard for 300 - 500 dollars. That price is high. I just bought my 04 4X4 S. Cab last August for 2 grand less than that, with 50K less miles on it.
