Broken lugnut stud.. what to do?
If you have enough room behind the hub, hit the old stud out with a hammer and remove it. If you don't have enough clearance to remove the old and install the new one you'll have to pull the hub off. Install the stud by aligning the splines up, use some big washers and lug nut to pull new stud in(be sure to use some oil on the threads if using an impact). If you have to remove the hub, you can tap the new stud in from behind.
I can't get back under my truck till later so I called the dealership. The service dept. Said "I don't know if you need to take the hub off or not." So I'm wondering if any of you have done this on the front WITHOUT taking off the hub?
UPDATE:: I knocked the broke stud out with 2 hits from a 1lb hammer, by only removing caliper bracket and rotor. There is plenty of room to put a new one in on the left side of the hub, where the abs sensor goes in. I'm thinking of changing all 24 at $3.16 a piece for how easy it is. Go knock those two f$@&ers out.

If they are properly torqued down, they will not loosen. I actually never torque mine to spec though, and I have never had one loosen up after all these years.
