Hi & welcome!

You need to remove that intake and re-install the stocker, ASAP. Edge's canned tunes are NOT designed to accommodate aftermarket CAI's. Edge themselves even state that unequivocally. You have altered the MAF transfer function - only custom tuning can correct that. (Poor R&D on K&N's part - S&B does a much better job of it).

Refer to:

You can either:

1. Get a refund on the intake and just apply the Gotts mod to yer stocker ( same gains, no lean codes, and only ~$10)

2. Order custom tuning for yer Edge from PHP ( $60/tune) specifically to correct for that exact model intake. Run the stocker until you receive the tuning, then reinstall the WAI.

A full PCM relearn may help a bit, but it will NOT address the root cause. And the absence of a CEL is not indicative.

good luck

I had the same setup as you, then ran into all the problems. I got rid of the Edge and went to a performance shop and had the truck dyno tuned and problem solved and runs much better than it ever did with the Edge.

Hi.

Yep. While that is always an option (as is going with a custom-tuned SCT device), the OP can preserve his investment - in both the programmer he already has, and that intake he wants - for as little as $60, by 'Gryphonizing' his Evo via PHP's custom calibrations. Which are excellent, and will address these issues plus providing far better tuning.

I also took the negative battey cable off for a few hours n tried again with the same results. it has actually stopped running on me once. The throttle just stops responding and then it died. All with the stock system back on....

Hi.

You needed to relocate the MAF into the new intake tube, correct? It's possible the MAF got damaged or it got coated with filter oil or some other contaminant.

Try cleaning the MAF with CRC MAF cleaner spray and let it dry completely.

Yes i cleaned it with Mass air flow cleaner before putting it back on stock system. It had no damage.
