they have pics on how easy it is to break in below the cylinderless handle assembly.

I don't want to be offensive but I think your the one wasting your money. That or your selling your products. How exactly is this going to stop some one from busting out a window? or air bagging the door? This is about cosmetic repair, if some one wants in my truck they are getting in.

But hey I have a super ultra strong deadbolt to sell you to keep people out of your house. If you want I can setup a site and tell you how awesome it is and show you a house being broken into.

Best idea here was the plastic trim cover and the vibration alarm. Vibration alarm + sidearm would keep a lot more people out of my truck then a metal plate around the keyhole.

Nolimitsoldier, I am pretty sure bucko is not trying to sell you his product. He has been on this site for a while and has a ton of posts. Even if he was trying to sell you a product he makes a good point. Those Jimmy Jammers can protect your truck. If you would have had them the thieves would not have been able to get into your truck the way they did. So before you go off on some guy for trying to help, you think about it. I know it sucks your truck got broken in to and you are tight on money, but if you want to prevent it from happening again I wouldnt do it half-assed. Fix/Replace your lock cylinders, whether you do it yourself with the directions provided, or through a dealership, it needs to be done eventually. An alarm system with a broken glass sensor would be the next thing you need if you dont want this to happen again.

Again sorry about your truck. The people on this site are just looking to help.

i speak from expirience from my f150, my dads f250, 2 friends with f150s, and 2 other ppl i know with an f250 and f350. all had that key hole poped and the truck cleaned out.

its a bad feeling and a nightmare i feel you.
Wow!! I am definetly going to get that Jimmy Jammer device. Every little bit that will help to stop thieves will help. By the looks of this post obviously the thieves know the weak points of these trucks.

Now what to do with window breaking intrusions...

I guess a false sense of security is better than nothing for you guys.

Anyway after talking to a few friends we were thinking of setting up a vibration alarm tied to the police siren's Manual. Would give it a nice "whuupp" when the truck is touched/moved/etc.

wow my man. you think reinforcing your locks is a false sense of security. How about you try to remember the last time somebody reacted to a car alarm going off. I would have say umm never. but hey I really hope that car alarm of yours gives you peace of mind I mean umm a false sense of security.

One of the reasons thieves break into the door handle is because its quiet and low profile. It can be done without attracting a lot of attention, even in a busy parking lot. Windows can always be broken, but that is a little more noticeable. Even an alarm can be bypassed, the power has to come from the battery someplace... Does that mean that it's a false sense of security? No, anything you do to keep people out of your stuff helps. Locking your doors, rolling up your windows, jimmi jammers, alarm sirens, even a sticker on your window that SAYS you have an alarm might dissuade some potential thief. Even simple stuff like maybe bolting your radio in with torx bolts or something. If you don't plan on ever taking it out, drill out the heads on the bolts, good luck to Mr. A. Thief getting that out

There is no foolproof method to protect any vehicle from crime, short of sleeping in your truck with an AK-47....even then you'd have to sleep, and if the crook wanted your vehicle bad enough, they'd shoot you first.

The key is to make your vehicle difficult to break into, in hopes that the crook becomes discouraged and moves on to an easier target.

Your opinion of "Vibration alarm + sidearm would keep a lot more people out of my truck then a metal plate around the keyhole." is partially valid in my opinion; I too have a cheap BullyDog alarm system (paid $39.00 at Pep Boys). It makes a loud screaching noise if the truck is bumped hard (such as in a crook pounding on the butt end of a screwdriver to break through my lock). It also senses a voltage drop. If the crook gets the door opened, the alarm sounds, as it detects a voltage drop when the interior lights come on (door opened). Cheap for $39.00; came with two key fobs for arming and disarming. And for the record, no, I don't own BullyDog alarms either.

Sidearm, well, that assumes you stand guard at or near your truck 24/7....and that you could get a shot off quicker than an armed crook. Crook not armed? I'll assume you live in a state that allows you to use deadly force to ward off a crook. Texas does, other states would allow the crook to file charges against you. Unfair yes, but that's going to cost you lawyer fees and the like to get out of that one. Again, just punching holes in your logic, as you have done with mine.

No truck is worth risking my life over. That's why I have insurance. My $500.00 deductible is much less to have to pay than my life. But that's just my opinion again.

The purpose of the jimijammer is to prevent the "screwdriver" method of breaking into our Ford trucks, which is a known weakness. Yes, the crook can break a window. Breaking a window creates a situation though that most crooks wants to avoid. Most want to get in and out within minutes. Again, alarm prevention is a matter of making it difficult to a crook; not fullproof, in hopes that they go after an easier target.

And yes, there will be damage to your door with the attempted screwdriver break-in, but hopefully the crook gave up, and your valuables will be in the vehicle, so the amount of loss to you is less.

If I expand on your analogy, they could take a jackhammer, sledgehammer, or bulldozzer and rip the door or roof off my truck. Nothing I can do to prevent that either. The majority of crooks want as less noise or attention to their actions as possible.

No, I don't sell jimijammers, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last month.
