Default Blown Plug

There's a 06 listed here on Craigslist that has a blown plug. Didn't realize this was an issue with the 3 valves. Thought it was the 2 valve. Can these be sleeved? Looking for a truck for my 15 year old and this one is a 2200 dollar FX4 crew cab. Haven't seen pics or anything just inquiring to see if anybody has seen this. Looks like a set of heads run between 800-1000. Thanks.

I've heard of it happening. I wonder if he left a plug loose for too long.
I think you have the Heli-coils and whatnot to sleeve it

Thanks. I've texted the guy asking for some pics but haven't heard anything back. May not be worth my time. The blown plug just had my attention.

There is an insert kit for that. You get the guide, drill, insert and installer in a kit. I have used it twice. It is for sale with 2 insert left. When I do this job the coil will have to replaced or glue the ear back on.

As @raycfe said, you can sleeve these engines. I bought the kit when I thought I stripped the threads on cylinder #2 when I used my impact to remove it (turns out I just had to put a different plug in it). However, I didn't need it, so I returned it to Amazon. Its this item here:

That would be a heart sinking feeling...
Changing a plug just to realize you've stripped the well

Had a good friend strip a plug on his Expedition (same motor). He never could get the helicoil/sleeve fix to take and ended up having to replace the head. I'm not sure why he couldn't get the repair to work. I think the previous owner tried to fix it and messed it up. He bought a new head from headsonly.com , cost him about $500-600 to fix it. Still not a bad deal if the rest of the truck is in good shape. You'll likely have to address the timing chain/phaser problem so a new head is only a little more work.
