Default A big thanks

to everyone that has helped me for the past few months with my issues on my 2004 SCREW. I had to bite the bullet and sell it this weekend. These trucks had too many things wrong with them that needed major repair. Mine had the dieseling and a rattle at startup every now and again. Anyway, everyone who commented really helped me with a few issues but it was more than I wanted to deal with. Thanks Again! Great forum with great info!!!

I got a 2011 RAM 1500 Outdoorsman. Absolutely love it. It'll only take me 7 years to pay for it...LOL!

Yeah...I am going to hold out with my truck for at least a year. It seems to be doing pretty good right now, but I think I have some lash adjusters that are bad...it's not apparent unless you get out over 3,000 RPM.

Anyway...when that new RAM 1500 with the 3.0L diesel hits the lots, I am going to go check it out ... but will probably wait for at least the 2nd year of production...maybe the 3rd before I make the switch. Sure would be cool to see Ford put a smaller, fuel-efficient diesel in the F150!

I sold it. Trade in offers ranged from 9000-13000. It only had 50K miles.

Grimace, you had a smaller diesel in yours before you fixed it!!!

I saw an article somewhere that said Ford had attempted a f150 diesel project, but claims the payback would take way too long. I dont think it would... well at least not down here in South Texas. I'd love a diesel in my f150. and then with mods? That would be awesome

I was told the EPA is so strict on putting diesels in passenger vehicles and light duty vehicles, they would not be the Powerful and efficient engines like the cummins or power stroke that we think of now days.
That why the tdi jet as are less efficient now days than 10 years ago, mileage wise.
Same reason why they sell diesel powered jeeps in Europe and other countries but here.

I would love a 4bt in my f1, but they are so dang spendy now days!!

Well...the EPA needs to pull their head out of their collective ***** ... as do the manufacturers. Ford puts a small diesel in the Fiesta in Europe and it kicks the gasoline engine's butt all over the spectrum. Small diesels are not as expensive as the big 350-inch and higher "big boys".

So far ... the reports are showing that the new RAM 1500 with the 3.0L V6 diesel will get better than 21MPG city and they are crossing their fingers for 30MPG highway (probably more like 27 or 28, I'd guess). I can't believe it would take too awful long to offset the cost of the diesel engine / diesel fuel with those kind of numbers.

You could buy a Jeep Liberty with a diesel in the U.S. for a couple of years ... but as Americans, we have some strange love affair with the super-refined petro. Certainly the EPA, the oil companies and the manufacturers are factors in the limited availability of diesel-powered vehicles in the US ... but consumer demand has a great deal to do with it as well.

FINALLY, the "green" movement is recognizing that diesel is the more sustainable way to go and we are seeing more and more acknowledgement of the benefits of diesel.

My wife's Honda CRV is just about paid-off and I have started to look at the current small SUV market again. I'd love to buy her the Audi SUV with the TDI in it ... but $60K ... no thanks. The VW Toureg is at the top of my list right now (but even it is $50K...yikes...maybe not).

Personally, I think the exorbitant price differential for the diesels is a bit of a scam.
