Post Bed Replacement & Other stuff

I am new here to the forums, figured I would go ahead and ask about some stuff.

I have an 08 F150 XL, short bed, regular cab, The most basic you could get.

Does anyone know a good place online to shop for bed replacements? I’m going to check out the auto salvage places near me. I have not been able to find anything for stuff that I need online.. all I get is a wheel arch and trim. Suggestions?

Also looking for suggestions on paint. I am aware it is cheaper to DIY it, but I just want to make sure I don’t screw anything up.

Depends on patience/timeline and how much you want to spend and how perfect you are trying to make it. But with all the trucks being parted out (mainly failed 5.4), I would just wait and look for a used bed with same factory color. FB/CL/junkyards have them all the time.

You will need a bed from a state that doesn't get snow.

It doesnt have to be perfect. Just looking for one that has minimal rust.

Best way to go if possible is find one that's already the same color that the truck got wrecked in front. Then you don't have to do anything other than swap it on.

CHeck round on there you can sort by zipcode and see what's available and what prices are like

Car-part isn’t bad to look at, but you have to chase tail with some yards as their inventory controls can be shoddy at best. No telling how many yards I contacted and came up empty for an engine with the typical “we may have sold it”, “not sure where it is” and other related mess.

Tl;dr -> EBay was better for me. You shouldn’t have a problem seeing a parts trucks picture and getting one shipped.

car-part.com

Found mine that way to replace on a rusted out 2006 F-150.

Also check all over. You can find beds from the rust belt areas that aren't rusted if the owner took good care of it.

Bought wheels from AAA auto parts in Rosemount, MN. They used the best looking wheel for all 4 wheel listings.. not impressed.
