I tried a lot of things for mine. The best stuff I tried was that bondo brand stuff for plastic- but I don't remember the name "back to black" or "forever black" or something? I ended up just buying new ones from ford. However, as good as my cowl turned out with rattle can satin paint in the future that's what I would use.

If they are still intact, use Krylon spray paint for plastics. Did the bed caps, wheel fenders and ford emblems with the satin black spray. A lot better than the faded grey color they were.

Here's a pic of mine. I used truck bed liner. Been about 2 months and they still look the same. No prep other than cleaning em good with dawn and letting them dry. I also removed them from the bed. I can post more details if you want to go this route. The cap on the bottom has not been sanded, they looked that bad.

I dis the same thing with all my plastics except for the wiper cowl. This is by far the best option in my opinion. I used dupli color bed liner spray from Advance Auto. I love the bit of texture it gives the bed rails as well and has not faded one bit.
