Default Battery light intermittent.

A couple days ago when I started my truck to warm it up early a.m. when I came out to go to work the battery light was on, I reved up the engine & the light went out. Today it did the same thing, plus when I got home from work & I stopped to get the mail when I got back in the truck the battery & the abs lights were on so I pulled the truck up to the garage & shut it off. When I tried to restart the engine, it just clicked. I checked the battery terminals & they were tight & clean, the 2 wires that are bolted on to the positive battery terminal were loose. I tightened the bolt securing the 2 wires because it was loose. I hooked up the battery charger for about 3-4 hours. After charging up the battery I used my DVM & tested the voltage & it was reading 12 V. I hooked the DVM to the battery terminals & started the truck & it was showing the alternator is charging 14.5 V. The battery is only about 1 year old. I have a feeling that the loose wires at the positive battery terminal was my problem. What do you all think?

14.5 tells me alt is charging

12.0 and not closer to 13 tells me either you needed to charge longer or you have bad batt. Either way, I’d stop and have batt and alt prof tested. Next steps will be determined by results of tests.

Thanks. The battery is a little over 2 years old. I had the battery on the charger for about 3-4 hours. I will take it for a ride tomorrow & report back.

Loose cables would do it. Think you already fixed it.
