Default Back up camera location

I just received my new Pioneer 4600bt and backup camera today. Waiting on the dash kit to do the install. Just wondering where everyone has been putting their backup camera without using the factory emblem or tailgate handle with camera. I just couldn't see spending a couple hundred dollars on a one of the factory options when I paid less than 30 for just a camera. I was thinking about either drilling it into existing tailgate handle or into the bumper to the left of the license plate. Are there any pros or cons to either location? Open to other suggestions as well.

The main use of the backup camera is for backing up to a trailer without getting in and out several times so being able to see the hitch is important. Don't want to do it like I do my old Chevy. I just back it up until I feel it hit the bumper then roll up a few inches

Anybody use this?

I'm assuming this would fit an 06 however it doesn't list an f150 until 08.

I found a camera for $10 on eBay, and a factory tailgate handle with camera hole for $25, eBay again. Worth it! Looks great, works better than any other spot on the rear end.

What year is your truck? And can you see your hitch from the handle location? I'm guessing it doesn't list an f150 until 08 because it wasn't a factory option until then maybe

Mine is a 2004, but the same handle applies from 2004 to present F-Series. I imagine that they only list them from 2008, since that's when they started them, and then went to the behind the blue oval kind. And yes, my camera from that hole shows the black middle part of my bumper, my hitch, and all the way up to about neck level of a person standing a foot or two away from the back of my truck. It's great!

The camera I bought came with a hole saw. I drilled my own hole in the factory tailgate handle across from the key hole.

Here's what mine sees.

Good luck! Glad to help. Here's what mine looks like, make sure your camera will fit in the hole...

The camera is very small so I think it should fit. If anything it may actually be smaller than the hole. I will make it work or order a different camera if need be though. I want it to look like it belongs there and not just something added on

Like I said, I found my cam on eBay for 10 or 15 bucks, and it looks stock. I also put a little rubber o-ring around it between the cam bezel and mounting hole, so it's watertight(ish).
