Default auto headlights

My truck came with the auto headlights. I have not figure these things out completely.

When do they come on and how do they work? What are they for

So far the best I can see about them is they stay on for a few seconds when the truck is turned off. and come on when it is real dark.

Is there anyway to adjust the sensitivity and how long they stay on after the truck is off?

When they are on the auto setting Do I need to change the switch to on at night or can I just leave them alone?

Just leave them on......they'll come on when it's dark and turn off when the sun comes out. My Dodge Charger SRT-8 has them as well and they are just a nice convenient feature of the vehicle.

In order to get them to come on at night is to turn the **** all the way to the left. Then they are basically a dusk to dawn light. If oyu have fogs you can pull the **** out and they turn to dusk to dawn also. You did not state what model truck you have but, there should be a message center that you can use to adjust the delay on and off time. Mine goes up to 60 seconds.

in a xlt you cannot adjust the time unless you have a message center that displays more info than just miles and temp

I didnt think it was based on time, it was particular on darkness. I was driving through something dark noon time, and the lights came on. Never know though

He was saying the amount of time the lights stay on after the key is turned off is on a timer. The lights in the auto mode come on at dusk as stated.

I wish they would come on when it was raining too, or just when ever the wipers were on.

Read your owners' manual. There are instructions on how to adjust the delay time (when you turn the key to off) with or without the message center.
