Default Another Tire Thread

I'm looking to purchase new tires and I've got it narrowed down pretty well to a few options but I have one major question that I cannot seem to find an answer on. Everyone has the pro comp all terrain extremes but I was looking at the pro comp all terrains because of the high mileage warranty and the severe weather rating. I work in the mountains in the winter and I will see a lot of snow. I need a tire that will handle the snow and mild off roading but will last a decent distance. I'm currently considering the BFG all terrains with the severe weather rating, Cooper ATP with the 55K warranty, possibly falken's AT with the warranty and possibly yokahama geolanders.

I'm really leaning toward the pro comp all terrains but I've heard negative reviews on them balancing and wearing properly, but the 50K warranty is enticing. My next option is the BFGs but they don't have the warranty but i did read a lot of guys getting 50-60K out of them? Also so cal has almost no mud so that doesn't really affect my decision on how well they clean mud out. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Do not get the BFGs, they are horrible in snow, worst tire ive ever seen in snow. There tread pattern holds debris and they dont clean out. The Geolander ATS is awsome, had them on my last truck and lasted fairly well and they are awsome offroad and in snow. However now I have Terra Graps and hate them as well. Right now Im looking at either going back to the ATS or getting Copper ST Maxx's.

Interco truxus mt's are unreal offroad. As far as a mud/offroad tire that can get any kind of traction in snow goes, there are very few. These are one of the better ones for sure. I had 37's on my jeep and could power through snow higher than my bumper in northern Canada.

I agree with the preceding posts; some good choices there.

Best performer in snow that I've ever owned in 24 years of driving is easy: Good Year Duratrac.

I had ProComp X-ATs and they're good, but ride stiff (even as a D load range tire); made by Cooper- quality stuff.

I have heard good things about the duratracks and although I have had quality issues with previous Goodyear tires I have heard they really stepped up their game with the duratracks.

Pro Comp A/T is a horrible tire and if you have a blow out you can't just run get another one. You can only get them from Pro Comp online or 4 Wheel Parts retail locations. Not good if you need a new tire right away.

It seemed like the geolanders would be a pretty good tire but I wasn't sure, looking at the price of them with a mileage warranty like they have is making me drool. They are close to $100 cheaper per tire than everything else. I was questioning the BFGs in snow also, thanks for the input. I was never really a fan of the terra graps, and they look like they would be ice skates on the snow, on top of I hear they wear really fast.

What makes them so horrible if you will? Americas tire is a retailer of them, at least it says on their website that they are so I was going to see what the deal was because it looks like they have to special order them in my area. I've heard rave reviews about the pro comp extreme ATs.

Good to hear, I'm not too worried about a stiff ride, I drive on a lot of terrible roads because California can't afford to repave them so I probably wouldn't notice too much haha Thanks for your input.

Worst tire EVER in the snow? I respect your opinion but I think you're about the only person on Earth that possesses it.
