Another Tire Thread
My family has been in tires since the 70's, dad's owned his own wholesale company for about 10 years that i've worked for and for the past 4 years we've owned our own retail store. When people with Pro Comp A/T's come in there is plenty of tread left and they just want them off their trucks. Poor wear patterns, and once the tire hits 3/4 to half life they never want to balance out without taking a hefty bit of weight on the wheels. I've had 2 good friends with them on their trucks, one was a lifted F-150 with 20's and one was a Jeep Wrangler with 35x12.50-17's and both hated the tires the whole time they had them.
I have had geolander A/t for 25,000 miles and they still look brand new. When i went and got the rotated and balanced they thought i got new tires since they were in such great shape and being a couple years old
What makes them so horrible if you will? Americas tire is a retailer of them, at least it says on their website that they are so I was going to see what the deal was because it looks like they have to special order them in my area. I've heard rave reviews about the pro comp extreme ATs.

That's awesome to hear, I had michelin LTXs on my explorer before I got my truck, they fared okay in snow but they did last about 85k. If I could get 65k out of a set of LTs I would be very content but it seems hard to find anything with severe weather or and type of off-road performance that can do that.
The issue with the tire is the fact the tread blocks are spaced so far apart. Nothing with that few blocks and that much space stands a chance at a long life.

That was one of the first tires I looked at, but I'm weary of the snow and ice performance. I work as a snowboard instructor in the winter and I have to be up the road early, often times in fresh powder that will have substantial depth and unthawed icy roads. I'm also driving on steep switchbacks with big drop offs. My other michelin's did great it wet and dry but as soon as they touched those roads they would be very difficult to control in the corners. have you heard how they handle in severe conditions?
