advice
Congrats! I have no doubt that you will take excellent care and maintenance of YOUR truck because of the blood, sweat and tears you are putting in to getting. I agree that you have a wonderful dad just like I had. Be sure he knows how much you appreciate it. Enjoy!
Everybody makes great points, and also congrats on your new truck! But I think you were looking for some advice. If you supply the mileage, it would help. But I'm thinking plug change(make sure you use di-electric grease on your boots), check your COP boots for cracks, also check the thread on changing plugs, fuel filter change, MAF cleaning, throttle body cleaning, check you FPDM under your rear tire, seafoam your intake, check/change air filter, change oil/oil filter (motocraft oil filter, I use 5w30 syn oil, but 5w20 oil is recommened, do some research and decide yourself). I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff, but that's a good and expensive start. Choose what you need to do now so you can enjoy your truck for many years to come!
I started the same way! I've had my truck since I was 18 I'm 21 now and I love my truck!! I was not a ford or truck guru when I got it. But I have learned alot from the fellas (gals) on this site. After alot of trolling I've been building up my 07. Here's some picks. Ad if you have a question for be afraid to ask or search! Some guys on here will be dicks about some stuff you ask! But don't let it discourage you.
Don't be afraid to start a thread and ask a question. We were all where you are at some point, I also got my truck at 16 (19 now) and I know exactly how you feel. I would check out the how-to sections. Also just reading through peoples build threads gave me lots of great ideas about what to do to mine. Most importantly though, make the truck look and feel how you want it to look. Everyone has a different opinion, as long as it looks good in your eyes. Welcome to the Forum, and like I said, don't hesitate to ask if you have a question.

(haha, jk)I put a level kit on knowing i wanted a lift.. Level was on less than a year and that was about $640 i could have saved for the lift..
Changed my oil soon as i got it on just to find out they were using a heavier oil to mask the cam phaser tick...
I've had 3 fords, 88 bronco, 90 & 05 f150 and a Chevy, 91 1500. I love trucks in general, but nothing like my fords. Keep up on maintenance and they'll do you wonders. Congrats! I'd love to see pics.
