Default Adding keyless entry door handle

This may have been covered before but I can't seem to find it. I found it in the 2009-2014 forum but not here. I just installed the keyless entry door handle to my truck. I know I have to take it to the dealer to have the computer read to see that it has the keyless entry. Can anyone share with me the link to our trucks, 2004-2008? Guys in the 2009 told me it should be just plug and play but the computer has not recognized it. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated? Also, has anyone else added this little upgrade to their truck and do you have any input on what you had the dealer do?

Thanks. I installed a new door handle that has the touchpad with it. I am looking for how to program that. I do believe I will have to go to a dealer so the computer in the truck will recognize that it's been added.
Thanks anyway!

No need to go to the dealer. Take out your rear seat and get the factory code off the module on the wall. You can use that code to program your own personal code.

I think 07-08 are pre programmed to take the door handle and 04-06 has to be taken in for programming to "wake it up." I know for sure if they buttons light up when pressed then no program necessary, you just need to get the code off of the back wall of the cab.

That could be it. I also heard that if you have the keyless entry fob the handle is plug and play. 09+ you have to get programmed.

Thanks all!
The touch pad does not light up. Would there even be a code if my truck never had this option before? I have the key fobs but DID NOT have this keyless entry before.

Do your key fobs unlock the doors? There should be power through the switch that's in the door. There will be a code behind the back seat if you have a super cab or crew cab.
The leds might be burnt out in the key pad also. I know my 1/2 button doesn't light up.

If it's plugged in you can press the 7/8 and 9/0 at the same time and it should lock the doors.

What year is your truck?

What model F150 is the OP's truck? I have an STX, and it had "power nothing" options. It was not pre-wired for anything as well. Since then, I've added aftermarket door locks and windows. I've thought of adding the power outside door lock handles, but in my investigation, I found it would be a real PITA to do on my model truck (STX).
