Default 5 speed

Anybody else ever wish their truck came with a 5 speed? Sometimes I think it would be awesome to have a 5 speed with the 5.4 in my truck.

Other times its nice to just have an auto though.

Too bad Ford only put a 5 speed in the most basic v6 trucks. I guess I just miss driving a stick. The car I traded in on the truck had a 5 speed.

Maybe I just need to get my Mustang running again and enjoy the 5 speed.

Not me. The automatic tows more, hauls more and has fewer problems. Manual transmissions are great, but I'll take something that works over something that is more fun to drive but has more problems.

How do you figure that an auto has less problems than a manual? That has always been one of the drawing points toward a 5sp is the lack of problems due to less technical intricacy.

they do offer a 5 speed with a manual trans but its only the very basic XL package. i looked all over trying to find one in an XLT but ford never made them. i thought about converting it when i blew mine up but it wouldve costed A LOT more than an auto. so instead i got the high performance trans for $1900.

As far as I know the 5 speed was only in the XL 2wd's with a v6.

Did the '97-'03's ever have a 5 speed with a 5.4 in a 4x4?
