5.4 timing kit replacement (help)
Looks like factory boots but aftermarket plugs put in before I purchased.
It was running smooth and one day started having a slight miss and it gradually got worse over the next couple hours. Replaced timing components but the miss is still there.
COPs or plugs, start the engine, unplug each COP plug connection one at a time, if its good, the idle should change, if it is bad the idle should stay the same. Thats how I found a bad cop that didn't throw a code. If all test good, do the same with the fuel injectors, that will identify a bad injector if you have a bad one. Check the connectors to the COPs and fuel injectors as well, you may have to break out a multimeter and the manual for that one though. Have you changed the fuel filter lately? How is the fuel module on the back frame by the spare tire, they corrode bad and can cause issues.
Good luck

Seems sort of odd so I think my next move will be to figure out how to check the connectors with a multimeter.
I would definitely check connectors with a multimeter, compare the results with the front ones. Also, you can try to swap the COPs from the back to the front to see if disconnecting them makes a difference as well. Seems like since the plugs are not firing, its causing the injectors to possibly say they are bad or vice versa. Try swapping the COPs and see it the symptom follows. Also, look real good at the wiring harness coming from the COPs, the harness has been known to have issues near the back and cause whole banks not to fire. Keep checking and keep us posted.

I would also pull the plugs. Be ready for them to break though. There have been quite a few stories where cylinders 4 and 8 (the back two) had original plugs even though the other 6 had new plugs.
It sounds like you're on the right track though.

When I did mine, I actually took a week off from work to relax, I would work an hour or so on the truck take a couple hour nap and so forth. I did not want to rush anything. Overall, I could probably do the job in a day, that includes removing the cams to change all the followers and lash adjusters though. If I were not removing the cams, I could probably knock it out in about 8 hours, but the real hard part is making sure that you have the right size sockets available before you start.

I took compression and all of the cylinders were from 185 to 205 depending how good a seal I got with the tester.
I bought a set of those cheap cops off amazon and put those on with new plugs but made no difference.
When I get time I'm going to test the COP plug's and the fuel injector plugs. Not sure what else to do after that.

It actually is not a bad job at all just time-consuming. The links and videos from this site makes it easier.
Well ive tested every plug and every coil pack with no luck. Took it to a mechanic he replaced and injector with no luck and couldnt figure it out either. Said it looked like the plugs in 3 cylinders were dry and not getting gas. Thought maybe the heads could be clogged on the intake side suggested looking into that.
I pretty much spent all the money on it I care to spend so I am going to put up for sale with the miss.
Thanks so much for all the suggestions and help guys.
