I averaged 20 mpg doing 85 mph on my way to delaware ohio. That is what my truck loves to stay at. Still has factory 3.73 in rear

if you go at a constant speed with few hills all freeway you should be able to get the advertised 18-20 MPG... but a realistic MPG for mix commute pleasure driving appears to be 12-14

I get 18 in town. I have no highway to get to work but my average for back and forth to work in town is 18.

An intake does help a little. 1 city and 2 extra highway. I have an 04 FX4 and I average 15.5 with a good mix of driving as well as heavy throttle at times. One thing I have noticed about the 5.4 is that it runs better on 87 octane with 0 ethanol if you can find it, but gets slightly better mpg with better gas. As of now I pump 87 octane and run lucas fuel system cleaner and upper lubricant every 3rd tank. Bottom line is that it is a 3 ton truck with 300+/- hp v-8 and anything above 14 is average. lower than that....... need to get your truck serviced unless you have huge tires. Best of luck!

Just got 12.1 mpg after 1st tank after buying it. Mainly city and very short trips highway (6 miles or so each time). Also had ac on the whole time (damn 100+ heat index the past week) and been having a little fun testing out the power

After 8 fill ups with Gas Cubby, my current AVG MPG is 16.0. This includes my 19 mile commute to and from work@ 55 MPH to work everyday and city driving. I've gotten as high as 17.7 MPG on an all highway trip from Indianapolis, IN to Peoria, IL and as low as 13.8 MPG in all city driving.

Seems like the majority of my tanks have been well above the 16 MPG line. Hope this continues, but I do see room for improvement. With some adjusted driving techniques with the new truck and some mods down the road I can see myself getting 20 highway and 17 daily.
