Ok, let start this thread by saying this is not my problem, I know better than to do this. A buddy of mine just got a 05 fx4 and went out to test his 4x4. He called me saying he couldn't it to go into 4x4 lo. I told him to come to a complete stop and put it in neutral, then see if it worked. Once he did this, the truck shifted to 4x4 lo worked. Apparently he drove for a short while with the truck in "4x4 lo" without putting it in neutral as you are supposed to do. In other words, he stopped and flipped the switch all the way to the right without putting the truck in neutral. I told him I thought the truck was fine, that it just remained in 4x4 hi but I wasn't entirely sure. Is this in fact the case, does the truck just stay in 4x4 hi if you move the switch to 4x4 lo without putting the transmission in neutral?

 

I think if your driving down the roadband someone turned the *** I think its not suppose to do anything I think it has to be in nutral thats what the owners manual says anyway. And you have to think little kids are going to turn it.

 

It will simply stay in 4HI if you're moving. Guy sounds like he is not too familiar with 4WD...make sure he isn't driving around on dry pavement in 4LO

 

Yeah I did the sAme dumb mistake when I first got my Truck, but im a New Yorker and had no clue lol

What did he need 4low for? 4low is mainly for crawling if I'm not mistaken.
