Unhappy 4.2 engine accelerating

wife started truck 8pm 32degrees cold start to move in drive, she backed up 25feet put in drive idled up driveway with foot resting on brake so she wouldnt smash into her jeep (nervous type driver) applied brake firmer to stop and started to put vehicle into park when she says truck started reving faster tires were squealing and she had to apply brakes super hard and then threw it in neutral she came into house and was visibly shaken said somethings wrong with your truck. Any similar experiences I took it to dealer next day no reply from dealer yet. 2007 f150 4.2 automatic 2wd 22k miles.

Huh? What?

Sorry, but I don't understand this sentence...what is meant by "veh"?

What is meant by "acclerated foot on brake"???

Are you having to put your foot on the brake quickly because of how fast your 4.2 is? If so, tell me what mods you have done, as I too have a 4.2; while it's not fast like the 5.4, it does get me down the road just fine, and pulls a trailer once in awhile without any major concerns.

Sounds like that may be what he was talking about lol.

Ya know I thought I felt my truck jump foward when I put my foot on the brake after I parked once, but I'm not sure if i was just tiredor what.

This is a much better (edited) description over your first post...

Was there ice on the driveway? Did your wife allow the truck to warm up once she started it, or did she just start it up and then put it into gear (reverse, then drive)? I ask because the engine will have a high idle in cold weather when it is first started. It will not "idle down" until it has reached a certain temperature.

In the cold month(s) of Texas weather, I will start my truck (also a 4.2), and allow it to idle until I detect the engine has warmed up (the idle drops); usually about 45 seconds. I then put it in gear and drive off. I will do this in warm months as well, as I don't like to drive off on a cold engine.

If there was some ice or snow on the driveway, or she put it in gear right after startup, the truck may have "lunged" back/forth because of the higher revs during warmup, and the rear wheels perhaps spun.

I would agree however that it should not have screeched, and taking it to a shop to make sure the "drive by wire" setup that our trucks now have is not sticking or causing an abnormal high idle. Safty first.

Haha So you basically did a brake stand for the cop? Sounds like you have some kind of throttle issue to me, not a transmission problem
