Default 2007 FX2 Mods

New to the forum, so thanks in advance for help. I picked up a 2007 FX2 SCrew this past weekend and immediately started looking for mods. I used to own a 2005 SCrew and had done a few mods to it before I got rid of it in 2008. So basically I'm trying to find out what has happened on the Ford scene in the last 3 years as far as aftermarket parts. What's the latest and greatest and what has become old news? My current mod list (wish list) is:

2" lowering shackles
remote starter
replace door speakers & add amp
exhaust
intake mods
shift kit
tune
dvd/nav head unit
sub & amp
bedcover

I had Belltech lowering shackles on my previous SCrew but I've noticed a dramatic price increase on what's currently available. Any cheaper alternatives out there?

I also still have the custom CAI I made for the 05 sitting on a shelf. It was made for the 4.6 and this truck has the 5.4. Haven't had time yet to see what else I will need to make it work, but planning to re-use it.

As far as the rest of the list goes, what are some suggestions for what companies to go with? I've been out of the audio game for 10 years or so... so I really have no clue what brands are at the top now.

Any comments/suggestions are appreciated.

the CAI will work fine, but instead of mounting vertically it will mount horizontally with the TB
exhaust-MBRP
bedcover- under cover tonneau

Thanks for the info ProZach. I thought I remembered the TB's positioned differently between the 4.6 and 5.4, but couldn't remember for sure. Like I said, I haven't had a chance to really look the truck over. I go to work before daylight and get home after dark.

Exhaust... dumb question but what is MBRP? I welded up a 50 series 3"SI 2.5"DO flowmaster and turn downs on 05, but the cabin drone was almost unbearable... although it did put my kids to sleep pretty quickly when they were little. If you sat in the back seat you couldn't hear anything being said in the front.

Bedcover... remind me, is undercover a flush mount or does it lip over the sides?

What brand shackles are you guys running?
Anyone have a remote starter that has a smartphone app?

Ok, I found the box my old Belltech shackles came in and the part number is 6406. I see there is also a set of shackles with part number 6400. Both say they fit Ford trucks. Both are 2" drop. Both say they fit 2.5" wide springs. But there is a $20 difference in the price. So, what exactly is the difference here? Anyone have these?

Belltech 6400 $48.56

Belltech 6406 $68.36

I don't think the intake will work. The intake setups between the 4.6 and 5.4 are wildly different in the 04-08 trucks.

The intake is one i custom built out of 4" schedule 10 stainless pipe with a monster sized K&N filter on one end and a 4x3 stainless reducer on the other end just past a 45* elbow. Shouldn't be too hard to fit it up to the 5.4 TB. I just need to figure out what to do about the MAF sensor. I'll try to get a pic of it tonight when I get home.

@hi-rev
Thanks for that info. I must have missed that section in the forum index. I'm prob gonna just bite the bullet and buy the Belltech 6406 since I know it will fit.

Welcome Stone,

I have an '07 FX2 as well; it already had exhaust (dual Flowmasters), but have done the following mods so far;

A.R.E Bed Cover
Kenwood Nav/DVD
Replaced all four door speakers with Memphis
JL Audio Stealth Box
JL Audio amp
Belltech Drop Struts (3")
DJM Flip Kit (5")
23" Saleen Wheels
Falken Tires
Lariat Fender Moulding
Saleen Instrument Cluster Face
Homelink Visor
Window Tint

I plan on adding steering wheel radio controls when I get back (already have the switches) and possibly a tuner (if I can decide which one is best). I'm also contemplating adding power folding mirrors if I can find a pair of mirrors. I'm also trying to add LED halos to my lights.

Good luck with your mods!
