Default 2006 AC issues

Hello I’m new to the group! I own a 2006 F150 Super Crew, and a 2018 Super Crew as well. 2006 has 309k miles on it all original. I’m having an issue with the ac on it and hoping to find some help in diagnosing the problem. Ac works fine at startup, but after a while the clutch disengages and will not engage again for a day or so. Any help would be appreciated

Check the clutch gap first.

Not "serviced" at all. Normal clutch wear, most likely.

I was stating that if it was not the clutch... it could be over or under serviced with freon.

^^Yup...too much freon will kick the compressor off in a hurry. The air gap may also be out. Both are common issues that can be fixed in 5 min.

I'd just lump all of those scenarios as either "undiagnosed" or " improperly serviced".

Since his system appears, by his report, to work for a "while", that probably eliminates either an under or over charged system. It points to a clutch that is no longer engaging and the most common reason for a high-mileage vehicle to exhibit that is .... go ahead, place your guesses.
