Hi, I have a 2005 F-150 XL 8 ft bed. I recently backed into a metal light pole and smashed the bumper pretty bad. I bought a new bumper but the brackets seem to be facing different directions than the old one. I was wondering if I could use this new bumper and just remove the brackets from my old bumper. Are they welded on? I am 16 and don't have tons of money to drop into this thing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I bought you a bumper face bar but didn't know how to put the mounting brackets and such on it. Thank you so much
Alright so I think I'm discovering something quite unfortunate...the salvage yard told me it would fit my 2005 although it must be for an 2006-2008 model. I guess I should just return it and buy one that matches my model year. Any additional tips would be greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately you're gonna have to return it and find one for your specific year. I didn't know they were different, and the salvage yard likely didn't either.
This happened to me with my front bumper, I have an 06 which is a split year so my front bumper was compatible with 06-08, I ordered one from the salvage yard to avoid shipping costs and they ordered the wrong one. PITA had to return it and have them order the correct one. Good luck
Thank you al for your help. I located a salvage yard where they took the bumper straight off of a 2005. Now I have an extra bumper sitting around. Any ideas on where to sell it? I listed it on Craigslist but any places to sell specifically car parts? Thanks!
