Default 08' Limited

Hey guys,

Im currently in the market for an 08' Limited. I was curious if anyone knows of any inherent issues with the truck, the 5.4 platform, anything I should look out for etc. Also, I live in the northeast and will be dealing with snow. Does anyone have any recommendations for a more aggressive tire to fit the 22's that they've had success with. Im trying to avoid buying a separate pair of wheels and tires just for the winter. Thank you in advance for any help you might be able to offer.

A good performing and outstanding looking tire for rough weather would definetly be the terra grapplers... i got 80k miles out of my last set (reguarly rotated) and was very pleased with the ride and performance of the tire.. as far as the truck goes i think their one BA looking truck...

Thanks for the tire info and the search topic for the engine issues. Are there any other regular issues that I should expect with an 04-08 platform truck?

not that package specifically but check into the manufactoring date beacause from 04 to sometime on 08 ford had a HORRIBLE design flaw with the park plugs in the 5.4. they easly become corroded and break off upon replacment causing extra labor hours and alot of time away from your truck. just check into that..

48500 miles so far just gas/oil and tires, although the CD player(6 disc) has stopped working all else no problems.
I get a lot of compliments about this truck and a few who don't like the hoopdee wheels on these trucks and the big chrome letters on the side(LIMITED) but I tell them you don't have to like it cause you're not paying for it. Anyway it is a eye catcher both like it or don't.
The Factory tires are Pirelli's, they look great but ride really hard and after setting over night they flat spot so it takes about 10 to 15 miles of running before they stop boucning. I replaced them with Bridgestone Dueler Alenza 285/40-22 they are a little expensive but a better tire then the Pirelli. The Dueler's did great in the snow, this truck is an ALL WHEEL DRIVE so pretty much anything with thread on the rubber will do fine in the snow on the road, off road not so much, I had to switch to 4 wheel drive to get around in the snow, same on the sand of the beaches down in Hatteras NC. and had to let a ton of air out, the sand was powder dry.

Thanks for the replies guys. Im really excited about getting into this truck. Just wanted to make sure I did some hw before I pulled the trigger.

@sandcat1579: Do you know if the redesigned heads on the engines produced after 11/30/07 would eliminate the need for the TSB 06 19 08 calling for the replacement of the cam phasers and lash adjusters? From what I read there was a TSB for load lifters as well. Thanks for any help you might be able to offer.

@diamonbird: Thanks for the in depth review of the limited. I was curious about the AWD system as opposed to having a 2H 4H 4L system. Did you notice any perceivable driving difference going to a wider tire? Also, I noticed you had the fiberglass bed cover. Which manufacturer did you decide to go with and will they color match the White Sand Metallic paint? Thanks
