Default '05 Driver Window

2005 F-150 4.6 XLT. Driver window goes down fine but is finnicky going back up. Have to fiddle with the switch to get the window to go back up. Often makes a "crunching" noise. What do I fix/replace?

STOP!!!!!!

If you have "crunching" noises, it's not the switch, it's the regulator (window track). If you keep using the window, the regulator will break and the window will drop down in the door. You must replace the regulator now. They are available on Rock Auto with and without the motor. Your motor is most likely just fine and is not difficult to transfer to the new regulator. The regulator on Rock Auto without the motor is about $50.

BTW, dealerships charge $400+ to repair this.

VTX1800N1, I know exactly what you mean because my regulator just broke 2 months ago! Had to get the regulator completely replaced so I have a brand new one in there already. MY MISTAKE, I failed to mention the crunching noise was happening BEFORE I replaced the sucker. Now there's no crunching noise, but the window is just erratic.

NOT ANYMORE!!! I followed the instructions in the link and my window runs like a you-know-what. Thanks for the help guys, yet another fix I was able to save a ton of money on because of everybody's help. My FPDM is next!

Mine had the problem with going back up (no grinding noise though).

I just replaced the switch with one from eBay.
It was about $20.00 shipped.

I used this video how-to as a guide.

Best of luck.
