Well, I think I found why I thought I'd need a new housing. Whoever replaced the hoses before I bought it forgot to release the spring clamp on the housing side so when I moved/jiggled the y-connector fluid came out where the hose ends on the housing....... fun fun fun. I found the clamp loose sitting at the top of the y-connector and low on the hose... sure hope this takes care of the leak. Also installing the FoMoCo T-stat and o-ring. Yes I will realign the arrow....lol Will update in few day or sooner if this does not the fix my issues.

Default Y-connetor follow up

Following up on my y-connector coolant leak and fix. After releasing the hose clamp, and replacing the t-stat & o-ring with FoMoCo parts, my leak is no longer. The root cause of the leak was that the upper y-connector hose clamp was not tight around the hose where it should have been.

Just out of curiosity, is this an older style t-stat, or did someone just throw it in because "it should work? The one on the left is the one that I removed and the new part from the dealership on the right.

Gonna assume here that yours, one on the left, is different from mine that I have in my hand to go in to the truck when I replace the water pump because yours is a 3.5. The one I have for my 5.0 looks identical to the one on the left, but has 190 degrees on it and its number is RT1227, BR3Z-8575-E number on package. BUT on the T-Stat itself, the number listed is BR3E-8575-CB. I have had these parts since last May 2021.

Are you in Canada? Why does the one on the right say Celsius? Ford changes part numbers like they do underwear, we are going to need a parts guy!

My truck was originally a Canadian truck, but was brought into the US, inspected, and got its US DOT sticker. Then I bought it. So I don't know if the one on the left is original or installed at a dealership in Canada. Funny that a US dealership sold me the t-stat with celcius and more than likely a Canadian dealership installed one with fahrenheit on it.....riddle me that!
