I cheaped out on my winter wheels/tires and skipped the TPS. Found out that it takes about 30 minutes of driving for the truck to throw the warning message for TPS. I store the stock wheels with TPS in the garage beside the truck and it must detect the TPS daily because I rarely see the TPS warning unless I do a longer drive. Not sure if this helps but I thought it was interesting.

I wound up buying a set of four off eBay, same seller one of the other members on this thread had suggested. Close to $80 shipped and duty here to Canada. Wayyyy cheaper than the quoted price of $60 each from the Ford Dealer. Ordered my winter rims from the dealer so hopefully will have the sensors next week and we will get em installed for winter. Even got snow the last few days.....sucks!!! Thanks to you members on my thread. A lot of interesting information on the TPMS and how they work also!!

Default TPMS headache

I have a 2011 F150 and bought a set of the oem Ford sensors on e bay. My problem is I brought the truck to the dealer to have him retrain the sensors(No charge) but the first time I went in they said the right front was not functioning. I purchased a replacement from my dealer and had it installed by my garage. I just got back from the dealer and now they say the left rear is not working. Has anyone had this problem with the E bay sensors(They are definitely genuine Ford). I have a sense that nothing is free.

I got my set of 4 sensors on Ebay a few months ago and got the tires/wheels/sensors all installed about a month ago. The sensors work great and the dealer trained them. Depends who you bought from I guess, if he's got good feedback or if he offers a Guarantee. My seller had guaranteed the sensors. If not functioning properly he would send out another if needed. Mine have been trouble free.

Also and it may be new for 2013 and higher, you do not have to train the new sensors, they will be automatically detected by the tpms module, which contradicts what my owners manual states but they worked right out of the box for me.

I hooked up IDS to be sure and they were reading all 4 as individual pressures L/F, R/F, L/R, R/R.

.

I didn't know that, as I was going nuts a month ago trying to figure out why my TP light wasn't on after a new wheel/tire/sensor swap. I also got mine from Tire Rack.

^^ To add to that, I purposely aired down one of my tires to 20psi, a few days after installing, to see if the TP light came on. It sure did.
