Winter Is Coming
Winter is Coming! HA. Anyways, this will be my first winter with a truck, just wondering if you guys put weight in the bed and if so how much would you say? I have a 4X4 13 XLT Screw with 5.5 bed, I know the *** of these trucks is light because of how easy the tires will let loose but don't know what to expect in snow yet.

First order of business, get some good winter tires. We have had about 2 feet of snow already and I have seen guys in their 150's with 22 inch wheels with all 4 tires spinning on a little slope, not going anywhere, while people in Honda Civics with winter tires driving around them.
We have enough weight in our trucks, that with winter tires, you will be fine and not hauling around an extra 400lbs of mpg hurting weight.

Never put weight in the back of my 2011 but will likely pick up a few sandbags for the new truck, just for the peace of mind even though I have 4x4.

I put two 80lb bags of gravel in the bed of mine, but no need really as we get little to no snow here!

keep in mind that if you put any sand bags or anything like that in your bed, tied that **** down. In an accident those become major projectiles and can really hurt someone.

Winter tires and winter driving habits - no need for the extra weight.
Think about it - extra weight will help you start out faster. It will also mean that slowing down will take longer.
Drive accordingly with proper tires - the best policy.

Not saying it isn't possible to have them fly out in an accident , but chances are pretty slim. Unless the truck is rolled over then the chances are pretty good the sandbags will fall out of the bed.

How fast would you be going in the snow/ice to launch these up and out of your bed ? Not saying it isn't possible to have them fly out in an accident , but chances are pretty slim. Unless the truck is rolled over then the chances are pretty good the sandbags will fall out of the bed.
I've seen a ruler impale a drivers leg! Lol
