After researching and reading many reviews I picked up an Engo EPF10000s (~$400). I mounted it to a warn multi-mount cradle which came with a front wiring harness. I purchased a Warn 20ft wiring harness (24ft would have been a little easier) that I ran to the rear bumper. I wired both to one solenoid controlled by one switch in the cab so I can use the winch on the front or back.

If you don't have a need for a permanently installed winch, I recommend the versatility of a multi-mount type system. Saves weight on the front end, and reduces wear and tear on the winch over time.

Winche$ ... It's hard to fiind a 9K Warn winch and synthetic rope for less than a grand and you still need to get a mount, and some people will need to have the work done for them..

Of course you could recover snow bound vehicles for a fee to pay for it ...

Or just buy a bubba rope and save a whole bunch!

You can get around this kinda of using a lower rates winch using a 2/1 with ****** block but you lose cable length.

I would stay away from harbor freight stuff and unless doing serious off-road stay away from Warn. Go with the middle ground.
I've had great luck with my harbor freight 12k winch. Hasn't let me down as of yet. Although it is slower then a warn but it does it job well maybe Ive gotten lucky.

I haven't had too many friends use any of their winches for real work. Usually the tow strap did the job. I carry mine with me at all times but think a winch would be a good option. Still not any cleaer.

I haven't taken any pictures yet. There were no clearance issues with the 9.5. It fits in there perfectly, like Ford designed that empty space to just to hold a winch.

I have my brushguard with winch plate mounted, now I need a winch. I guess i am going to pull the trigger and purchase the Smittybilt X20 10 synthetic.

I wouldn't worry to much about wasting the money on a warn, I had a 9.5 ti, spent a boat load on it thinking I was getting the best. Well I get stuck and try to use it and nothing, took it to the shop they said the humidity got inside it and locked it up, Warn refused to repair it at first, a couple months of back and forth they finally agree but made it very clear they would not do that again. Stick with a smittybuilt, Ive had nothing but good experiences with them.
