Default Wheels stuck on...

I did a full service on my truck yesterday changing the oil/filter and checking all of the fluids. I am also way overdue on rotating the tires and decided to do that as well. Jacked up one side, pulled the lugs, and both wheels are stuck solid to the hubs. I didn't even try the other side as I was short on time. So one of the tricks I've found for breaking them loose is to loosen the lugs(slightly) and drive slowly around the block, heat is obviously another but I don't think the chrome cladding on the wheel would fair too well, any other ideas?

I have always had really good luck hitting the tire with another tire/wheel. I use the spare from my travel trailer (it's not that big). I swing the spare tire and hit the one on the truck. Rubber hitting rubber won't cause any damage but it is heavy enough to break the stuck one free. Use some anti seize on the hub surface when you reinstall the wheel and it won't stick anymore.

um, this is a VERY BAD idea! NEVER loosen the lugs and drive the vehicle, it can do more damage than good in most cases. was your e-brake on? if so, that sometimes will lock up the rear wheel. i always shoot a little WD-40 on the hub and let it work in and loosen the wheels when this happens...

I use a rubber mallet on the edges of the rim, just keep hitting it all the way around and it will loosen up.

Easiest way. Take a hammer (heavy rubber mallet is the best), and hit the inside of the tire. It should break loose. If you take it to any shop this is what they will do.

Hey does is the jack strong enough and able to be located to get 2 wheels off the ground at once? It would make tire rotation much easier for the DIYer

It's actually a very common way to break them free, if you re-read what I said(carefully) I said loosen slightly and drive very slowly around the block. In addition I also said both wheels on 1 side, the ebrake wasn't on, and would have no effect on either the front or rear wheel coming off....

I whacked them pretty good with a dead blow hammer to no avail. I actually think I am just going to take it somewhere for a free rotation....

it's your truck, loosen them "slightly" if you want to. i would never do that, but then again, i get my tires rotated for free for the life of my tires.

Good for you, some of us actually like to clean the back side of the wheels while they are off and inspect the brakes and rotors.
