Default What tools for changing a strut?

I am going to be replacing the factory struts with Monroe Quick Struts on Tuesday, but I do not know what tools I will need. I have done some research, but I am seeing multiple 'how to's" with different sizes of sockets needed.

So, what are the tools/sizes that I need to replace the struts in my 2011 F-150 Lariat 2wd?

Thank you in advance.

Air tools for basic install of a complete unit. If you are replacing the strut only and not the spring, you will need a spring compressor.

Monroe Quick Stuts are the whole unit so a spring compressor isn’t needed.

You’ll probably need a breaker bar for the lower bolt. Just basic tools, nothing special.

Make sure you get the correct part number for the 2wd version and don’t mistakenly buy the longer 4wd version.

You’ll need an alignment after.

You certainly do need an alignment, don't listen to this guy. Plus with the cost of tires, why would you risk them instead of getting a ~$60 alignment?

You are changing the geometry of the front end of the truck. While the camber and caster won't change much if at all, it is going to throw the toe off by a lot.

My personal truck after a leveling kit. $1800 in tires, I'm not risking them for a ~60 alignment fee

Yeah, any time one works on the suspension an alignment is always recommended. Tires aint cheap.

Fortunately I have the tools and the know how to do my own alignments.

I don't recall all of the sizes used but there's more than just those. Do you not have a selection of sockets to choose from? If so I'd get on that before diving into your truck. I think you'll need more than those sizes, lower shock mount is 27mm, 15mm deep socket for top of shock mount. Also it's always nice to have a torque wrench when assembling, too.
