Default what idiot designed this!!

who was the moron that decided it was a good idea to put a tiny dipstick under every liquid container on a 5.0 in a f150!!! no way you can reach this without jumping up on the fender and scratching the crap out of it. even on the pass side would have been better or a longer tube and dipstick so a normal person could reach it.

rant over

I agree on the bad oil dipstick.
Its on the long list of things I dislike about the truck, like the sideways oil filter.
I only check oil every couple thousand miles, but checked it more often when it was new.
It holds 7.7 qts, so it could lose several qts and still have enough to have oil pressure. I figure if its losing that much, it will leave a mark !

Not arguing the dipstick is poorly designed, however I have that stool and left it in my ranger for my mother with bad knees. When I level my truck I'll throw it into my f150. It takes up 2"x10"x12". Which imo is nothing.

I don't know how tall or short you are but I'm 5'8", I stood inside the lower opening (eco IC air feed/coyote license plate location) while I checked mine.

Another option is takin 1/4"or 1/2" diamond plate and making a bracket that mounts on the tow hook. I have one for a dune flag. I've stood on that and I weigh 170lbs. Again, no issues.

Must have been a 6'4" idiot, because I can reach it no problem.

I'm 5'10 and can reach it. Its way easier with a little stool but it can be done without one.

When I worked at the dealer I used a folding wheel step like this. http://www.discountramps.com/wheel-s...l4IaAvPl8P8HAQ

Cheap enough and folds up so you can slide it under or behind the back seat. With that said I'm 5'10" and have no problem reaching the dipstick, well that is before I put a 4" lift kit on the truck, out comes the step stool from the kitchen now but that's just for when changing the oil.

You can check it in your driveway before or after the fill up, then you can keep your step stool at home.
