Default Weird starting issue.

2014 F-150 Screw, 5.0, Auto, Stock

So last week my truck started acting up. Haven't done anything to it, and never really had this problem before. Tested the battery a few times and always got around 12.5 volts. Someone in another thread suggested unplugging the battery monitoring system, and it had no effect. I get no CEL's or messages. When I turn the key it cranks once or twice and stops, then when I do it again it starts right up and runs fine, no issues.

Heres a video of what it does:

Thanks.

For starters, I'd swap #2 relay which is for the starter with say the #4 which is rear window defrost just to see if there is a difference. After that, I bet there is a solenoid on the stater and would suspect that.

Edit: Just found this.

For reference, unplugging the BMS is not any sort of instant fix to anything (unless it's actually physically damaged). It will allow your alternator to charge your battery better, and after some days or weeks your battery will have better health.

Yeah I know but just relaying what I've been advised so far.

Switched relays and had the battery, starter and alternator tested. Still doing it. No codes and confused lol

Is the starter what i'd call "automatic" ? By that, i mean, is it turn and release, and the system will start on it's own? - I don't know if that's a Lariat only feature, or if it's what the truck does once it has remote start capability or if all 12th gens do this?

I don't think so. Mine is "normal" turn the key to on, then engage the starter.

So if you turn it to the starter position (3) and let go immediately, it doesn't continue to try and start? (i guess for you, this would be the second time you turn it as it takes 2 goes?)

Went and checked. And yes. I guess. If I click it over to Pos 3 and let go right away, it makes 3 rotations then stops, i flick it again and it usually starts on the 2nd try. Sometimes I've had to do it twice, once I've had to do it 3 times.
