Alright, so maybe that's a 12th gen feature then, cool. Ok, well, the system has to have a sensor for that type of starter to work, we're all used to holding it in pos 3 until we feel the engine has started, then let go. This means there is no guessing any longer, but it does mean the system has to have a way of detecting it's running.
Where i'm going with this, is that it's whatever *that* system is, that may have a problem here. Anyone know anything about this part?
(For the record, i know it's not a set time/number of revolutions before it stops - well, i think there is a cut-off time, but it's several seconds - i removed my fuel pump fuse and it cranked on round and round without starting)
On the fuel side there's the fuse 27 issue. And the fuel pump module under the bed, although the severe rusting issue was more a previous gen issue, certainly mostly cleared up by 2014. Your vid sounds more like electric, though. I want to say the auto-start feature you guys discussed started in 2011 with the BCM. Here's the circuit, not sure what might cause that double-take. Corroded wire between BCM and ignition? Bad ignition switch?
Guess I'll have to do some looking around this weekend. Looked at the 27 fuse and it was fine. I have 107K on it, no idea on the plugs. Bought it at like 105k.
Thinking the plugs will be original based on that. I'm gapping mine right now at 85k, and they're 10 thou over sized - Ford states 100k under best conditions for them, but 60k under more extreme conditions.
