So the DDM kits kinda come with their own relay built in, thats kinda nice.

But word to the wise, any other kids that down have a built in relay, i would suggest running a relay harness with the ballasts. its cheap insurance and reduces flickering.

Nyles got it!!! do it! and you will never drive a rig without them. I live in WA and they make visibility extremely better. especially in bad conditions, snow, rain, etc. and they are cheap! dont go too cheap tho or you will just burn bulbs. I bought mine on ebay for like 50 buck to my door and installed in 20 min. and the best part is it dosnt void anything and you can switch them back easy too.

Default The skinny on HIDS

I've had 5 cars with HIDS (all OEM)
Hids are brighter and whiter, however, whether, their ilumination is better varies since pattern is as important if not more than light "temperature" or "whiteness". Of all the OEM vehicles with HIDS that I've had, only in 2 were excellent, on the other 3 they were no better (or worse) than regular lights due to pattern issues. I particularly dislike the HIDS that moved around with the steering wheel, very stupid feature. After market HIDS as we all know are Illegal, and rightly so since they are installed in enclosures that are not designed to project them correctly and regardless of aiming they cannot be "put right". If you aim them like regular lights they blind oncomming traffic. If you aim them down to avoid that they do not have enough distance. Ergo all aftermarket HIDS are useless.
Brighter, whiter halogens (like silver stars and others) on the other hand are legal and can improve headlights by up to 50%. They have no pattern issues since they are the exact same bulb you already use but brighter and higher temperature. They have shorter life.
Finally, some vehicles simply have ****ty headlamp design with which much cannot be done, I've had one of those too.

BTW regarding fog lights, Fog lights are for fog. White lights are useless for fog since instead of going through the fog it reflects right back at you. The yellower fog lights are the better they perform. The job of fog lights is to iluminate the sides of the vehicle to a short distance (low and wide). Just the facts mam'.

I guess I don't understand why HID's scatter the light to on coming traffic. Wouldn't the light pattern be the same? Stock bulb and HID bulb being installed in the same spot, same reflective housing, same cover in front of the bulb.

Never had HID's before just trying to figure it out.

yea the hids in a reflector housing scatter the light, but they are significantly brighter than halogen, so it makes up for the scattering.

I want to order Silverstar Ultras for my 2010, but I read a review on Amazon where a guy ordered them for his F-150 and they did not fit. Says he Called Sylvania and they aren't coming out until the fall of 2011.....anyone have them? or part/bulb number?

The headlights are H13 (9008) type. They are not available as ultras only as regular silver stars H13ST
(According to osram website)
