Waxing advice
I have had many different cars and trucks, used liquids, pastes and tub type waxes.
I think I don't do bad with these kinds but wonder what everyone uses?
If I wanted to get a good waxing done by a detailed or body guy how do I go about getting a "good" one?
I've seen on here on other post where body guys have said its hard to do it right and or find a "good" detailer.......

Everyone seems to love the Collinite products.
I have not personally used them. Would be interested in trying them though.
I know Im gonna get blasted right off the forum, but I like Turtle Wax Ice. The fact that I can wax the paint and all the trim without the white residue is a selling point for me. Its also very easy to apply and remove.

I dable a little in paint correction. Not a pro but I do OK. First thing you should do is clay the truck before you wax or seal it. That will remove the contaminants off the paint. And anything is better than nothing. Ive use meguires products with good results.
Check out autogeek. Its a great site for auto detailing.

I owned a detailing business in CA many years ago and had my own Mustang show car. I had many high-end clients with very expensive cars and I used Maguires products religiously. I've been detailing vehicles for over 30 years.
My only advice is to stay away from silicone based waxes as they need to be stripped off and will produce a yellowing effect if left over time on light colored vehicles. Carnuba is your friend. Oh, and I hand wax I don't use any buffers, that way I can feel the surface of the vehicle as I work.

I mostly use Adam's Polishes. They make AMAZING products, and if you're new to detailing you can get their dvd with pointers/tips on the correct way to do everything. Besides Adam' s, I've had great results with Collonite as well.
Agreed. If it's been a while since she's been waxed, or you go thru a lot of muck, I would clean the paint, chrome, etc., before any waxing or sealant. There's nothing wrong with MeGuire's three step, or Mothers, etc., assuming you'll be doing it yourself that is. I've used Meguire's and have really liked it. But it is a lot of work. I like Turtle wax too and have been using it a lot here lately. I don't like the Turtle wax Ice on paint so much, Seems to be too much residue and rubbing for me. But I really like it for chrome and plastic trim. As for finding a good detailer? That's always gonna be up in the air. If you have someone in mind see if they have any customers you can talk with. Or just ask around. Word of mouth is king....

That is all.
Do the proper paint prep to get the most out of your wax. Personally Ive been a fan of blackfire products. Blackfire crystal seal topped with bf black ice. Been using collinites 845 as well on the expedition.
Granted I have a good bit of prep work in polishing time into my paint, but gotta love that depth, clarity, and shine

Collinite 845 is great after you prepare the paint.
The Collinite will not remove any stains or scratches.
It will give a long lasting shine.
It also works very well on vinyl, rubber and glass.
