Validation of Cost
Maybe FordService can chime in here but...
Woke up this morning to a frozen emergency brake. Reversed got it unstuck, but had horrible squeal, etc
So took it to the dealership
Found out they have said.
1. Torn ebrake line
2. Needs new shoes and rotors on both
3. replace brake fluid
Now they are quoting 800 or so to do the work... I don't understand that considering there is a coupon for 180 a piece for pads. Yes they would add the rotor etc...
Thoughts on if that is right?

Torn ebrake line??? There is no ebrake line, it's a cable!
The ebrake is cable actuated, uses a brake cable, shoes and the "hat" drum on the inside of the rear rotors. Other than the "hat" drum inside the rotor, there are no shared components.
I can see replacing the broken brake cable, the brake shoes if they were damaged. I can also see replacing the Rotor if the "hat" drum is badly damaged, but I don't get replacing the brake fluid for a broken break cable! Am I missing something?
I Had the same thing happen on my old truck $250 is all I was charged, $40 for the brake cable, $80 for the shoes, hardware kit and an hour labor. The inside of the "hat" drum was badly scratched, but they just machined them.
Replacing the brake fluid ensures it's good. Lots of excessive heat can break down the fluid much faster.
Plus each brake job you should be bleeding your brakes and while doing so you exchange with new fluid. Over looked a lot by rookie home Mechs.

time for a new learning experience. you are probably smarter than person working on it at the dealer. You Tube videos will probably walk you thru it, basically the same on most cars and truck that use drum brakes in connection rotors for the emergency brakes. take close up pictures after you pull the drum off on both sides, sides are reversed from one another.
So here is a question they have a 179 per wheel deal if they are machining the rotors.
Now I get adding the cost of new rotors to that price but isn't the work the same... actually less? They still have to pull the rotors to machine them.

The rotors couldn't be resurfaced...scored good after driving it there with the broken ebrake. My point was why not the 179+ cost of rotors?
It doesn't matter now in a loaner escape which I hate because the problem they were supposed to fix with the brakes isn't fixed. Also all of the brakes miraculously failed since Feb 15th this year when they claimed everything was excellent in their checkup the last time I had it there
