Upper rad hose sucked flat
Recently drained block and radiator and refilled with the new yellow coolant, burped system as best i could. But once i leave the engine to cool down the upper radiator hose gets sucked flat until i open the reservoir cap and it instantly expands back to round.
Is this due to air still being trapped in the system or do i need a new cap? Im stumped, 1st time doimg a drain and refill. Thanks.

I suggest replacing the hose if it is collapsing.
I believe they should be reinforced, and if it collapse, the hose has become week (as well as pulling vacuum for some reason).
But yea, may be a good time to replace that hose.

My Chevy did that after I replaced the motor and basically everything else under the hood. The issue was, a previous owner had used stop leak in the radiator and it had plugged the line going to the overflow tank. It couldn't breathe, so when it would cool off, it would draw down on the upper radiator hose. Something to check anyways.

I had that problem once. I think my issue was that I was clueless about needing to tighten the radiator cap until it clicked. I had topped it off and then not tightened it up properly. This is my first vehicle with a cap like this.
I may also have changed out the cap later to be safe but it's been a year or so and my memory is a bit foggy.
Anyway, check to make sure you are clicking it, then if that doesn't work change it out. Finally if you still have an issue you may have a leak somewhere.
I had a leak at some point also so that may have contributed to things but I think the flat hose issue was after I had that fixed.

5.0 uses a de-gas bottle, ie. it's self bleeding, best to run it up to temp with the heater on (fans cycle) with the lid off the de-gas bottle to allow it to burp itself.
