So are the PIAAs better than the Sylvanias?

It's a toss up Imo.

Price, color, availability, yadda yadda...

As for quality, all I can say is that I use Osram (Sylvania) D2S SVS bulbs - because they last 3+ years and have a 1 year "no questions asked" warranty.

Choice is yours, but I tend to stick with proven, supported quality vs blatant aftermarket parts.

Just my opinion.

So are these just replacement bulbs? I've never heard of them to be honest.

I went with Sylvania SilverStar Ultra's which is their best bulbs. They are by no means an HID,but they do put out more light and i'm pretty happy with them.

The D2S? No, those are HID bulbs, oem.

I was using them as a reference because of the brand. I trust Osram because that's what a lot of manufacturers use from the factory. Well, they use 66240 bulbs, some CBI and some SVS...

Anyway, you can't really go wrong with Sylvania or PIAA. A lot of halogen manufacturers are within such tight quality regulations that the difference is minor.

The same can't be said for ebay/random brands. They have no standard, and no quality to meet, those are best avoided.

Personally, if you have a Napa nearby get their "premium" bulbs. My brother ran them for almost 2 years and they had a white-yellow look, not like HID, but not as "muddy" as some halogens.

No not yet. I'm still up in the air. I always use Sylvania before with good results. I was considering PIAAs but they are more money. Which I don't mind, if they are truly better. But I don't know which ones to go with.

Actually thinking the Silverstar Ultras is the way I'm gonna go. I read a nice thread over at the other F150 site and they compared most the bulbs available. The PIAAs are right there as well, but for the money, the Ultras are about the most quality bulb.

So, is it a total pain to change the headlight and fog light bulbs in these trucks?

Its not difficult but it's just not "bulb out - bulb in".

You have to pull the headlight, and the fogs are easily accessible.
